I have been finding mysef drawn to foliage, leaves, petals, stalks and stems lately. It may be due to the fact that we are in the thick of winter in Northern Virginia with hardly a leaf in sight! However, take a moment and do a quick computer search on leaves. You will quickly see that foliage is brimming with natural pattern. For example, take a look at the tossed design below; not only is it striking due to the natural shape of the leaf, but add to it the natural design of veins within each leaf and it is breathtaking.
and the SHAPES of leaves are endless! Inspiration at your finger tips, the uniqueness and sheer number in variation is amazing. I have a specific Pinterst board just for LEAVES!
So of course, with all this talk of foliage I did do a leaf pattern today, changed it up with a fun PINK though!
Leaf designs are GREAT complementary patterns and below is the main design that is meant to be paired with the pink leaves above. Look closely, do you see those green lines in the background? Those are the exact same leaves from above. So fun!
Now I've gone and done it......I want Spring to happen NOW! Guess I'll just need to draw some more leaves to get me by!
