OH MY Monday - JACQUELINE GROAG! So I have been seeing this pattern (see second photo) off and on on Pinterest for a very long time, pinned it a long time ago. It caught my eye because of the simple shapes that are used. Finally the other day I realized I needed to find out who was behind the design, I could tell it was vintage. And BAM I happened upon Jacqueline Groag! A very impressive woman for her time. Jacqueline Groag was born in Czechoslovachia in 1903. She studied textile design with Josef Hofmann in Vienna in the 1920's and by the 1930's she was designing textiles for the Wiener Werkstatte in Vienna. Jacqueline received a gold medal at the Paris World fair in 1937. Jacqueline was a leader in the industry designing textiles for the leading fashion houses in Paris, including Chanel.
